Hi, I’m Andy
Sunny Roads started as a way for me to keep everything from my motorcycle trips in one place — the routes, roads, tracks, hotels, photos, videos and all the little details I didn’t want to forget. Over time, it grew into something bigger: a place to share the journeys, the bikes I ride and what I learn along the way.

Why motorcycles?
Motorcycles have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My older brother is nine years older than me, and when I was little he had a dirt bike. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world, even though I was far too young to ride it. Later he had a moped and then a motorcycle, and I wanted one just as badly — but at the time my parents simply couldn’t afford to buy me one.
Luckily, people around me had bikes. My best friend had a dirt bike that I got to ride occasionally, and my girlfriend had one too, which I used every chance I got. Eventually, when I was 14, I bought a Honda MT5. Naturally, I couldn’t leave it alone. I changed the cylinder and carburettor, fitted different gearing and put off-road tyres on it. It eventually did more than 100 km/h, which was slightly ambitious for a moped that was supposed to do 30.
At 15, motorcycles disappeared into the background for a while. We moved to the city, I started playing in a band and discovered a few other distractions. But the interest never really went away. When I was 25, I finally got my motorcycle licence and bought my first proper bike, a Honda Hornet 600. The rest is history.
For me, motorcycles are much more than transport. They’re freedom, adventure and a way of switching off from everything else. There’s something about being on a bike that completely clears my head. It’s also a way of life, and the motorcycle community is unlike anything else I’ve experienced.

From road riding to adventure
The change really started after my first proper motorcycle adventure. I rode from Málaga through Portugal and northern Spain on my BMW R NineT. I loved the trip, but everywhere I went I kept seeing dirt roads and tracks disappearing into the landscape and wishing I could follow them.
I already knew about adventure bikes, but at the time I didn’t think they were really for me. When I got home, a friend asked if my backside was sore after the trip. It definitely was. He told me to try his BMW R 1200 GS.
I did — and that changed everything.
From that point on I was hooked on adventure bikes. I traded the R NineT for a KTM 1090 Adventure R and headed back to Portugal for another trip, this time with much more of a focus on riding off-road.
Why Sunny Roads?
I actually started filming motorcycle trips back in 2017, when I bought my first GoPro. At first it was simply a way of keeping the memories. The problem was that when I got home, watching hours of footage from a camera stuck to my helmet was incredibly boring. I didn’t know how to edit or tell a story with it, so eventually I stopped.
Over the years I still shared bits of my trips on Facebook and Instagram, and people kept telling me I should start a YouTube channel. Eventually I decided to give it a proper try. I realised that if I was going to put my rides on YouTube, simply filming the road wasn’t enough — there needed to be a story behind each journey. That was really the beginning of Sunny Roads as it exists today.
The name itself actually came much earlier. A friend and I once talked seriously about starting a motorcycle touring company, and I came up with the name Sunny Roads for it. That idea never really got off the ground, but I liked the name and kept it. Later I used it for a camper van rental business, which turned into a fairly expensive lesson in what kind of business I didn’t want to build.
Those experiences taught me something useful. I didn’t want to create another business where I was simply selling my time, and I didn’t want one that required large amounts of money tied up in vehicles and equipment. I wanted to build something around something I already loved doing — travelling by motorcycle, exploring new places and sharing the experience.
So Sunny Roads eventually found the home it was probably meant for all along: motorcycles, adventure and freedom.
What’s next?
Sunny Roads is still just getting started. I want to spend more time riding off-road, exploring new places and taking on bigger motorcycle adventures — while continuing to improve both as a rider and as a filmmaker.
Georgia is high on the list, and longer term I want to take motorcycle travel much further. The dream is eventually to ride from Europe all the way towards Australia and New Zealand, taking the time to explore properly along the way rather than simply racing from one country to the next.
At the same time, I want Sunny Roads to grow into more than just a YouTube channel — a place where I can share the routes, bikes, gear, lessons and practical information from those journeys. But the basic idea will stay the same: motorcycles, adventure and freedom.
